Florine Ethelyn “Flip” Brown, age 94, of St. Louis, Mi passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Florine was born in Pleasant Valley on December 7, 1929 the daughter of George and Gertrude Bailey. She was a lifelong resident of the St. Louis area and graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1948. Florine married Darrell (Buzz) Brown on February 25, 1949, in Coe Township, MI.
Florine worked at Park Hotel in St. Louis, then became a stay-at-home mom until all their children were in school. She then worked with Buzz at the St. Louis Agency & Lodewyk, Nesen and McKim until their retirement. Flip enjoyed camping and snowmobiling, along with traveling adventures with Buzz and watching their children and grandchildren’s sports and activities. Florine loved to spend their summers as campground hosts in Michigan, Alaska and Montana. Florine was a member of St. Louis Church of Christ. She was also a volunteer at the hospital for many years and helped deliver Meals on Wheels.
Her family was very important to her and she is survived by her 7 children; Tom & Sandy Brown of Houghton Lake, MI; Polly & Phil Hoyt of Vestaburg, MI; Dan Brown of Owosso, MI; Jane Brown & friend Keven Iutzi of Rock, MI; Andy & Michelle Brown of Kingsley, MI; Jim Brown of Saginaw, MI; and Matt & Julie Brown of St. Louis, MI; plus 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Buzz, her parents, brothers: Buril, Loyal, Dale, LaVerne & sisters: Ilah Travis, Helen Humphrey and Nancy Bailey.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. and at the St. Louis Church of Christ on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Funeral Services will take place at St. Louis Church of Christ at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 20, 2024, with Dr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, MI.
