Floyd Andrew Howdyshell, age 85, of Ithaca, MI entered his eternal home on Saturday, February 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held at Ithaca Baptist Church on Saturday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Bob Norris officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Floyd was born in Munday Township, Ohio on October 22, 1927, the son of William Oscar and Lucy Louellen (Mohler) Howdyshell. He accepted Christ and was born into God's family when he was 14 years old. On August 1, 1953 he married Carol J. Ney in McMillan, Michigan. Floyd served in US Army in Europe during the Korean Conflict and he worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years. Floyd was a member of the Ithaca Baptist Church. He loved his church and church family where he served as a deacon, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher through the years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Carol Howdyshell of Ithaca, MI, 4 sons; Paul and Linda Howdyshell of Clare, MI, Phillip and Tammy Howdyshell of Ithaca, MI, John and Corinne Howdyshell of Clare, MI and Mark and Jan Howdyshell of Clare, MI, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Ethel Ney of McMillan, MI and Sarah Ann and Ken Kishpaugh of Linden, MI, sister-in-law Barbara Howdyshell of Pickerington, OH, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by two brothers, Noah and Junior Howdyshell and four sisters, Agnes Oswald, Jane Patterson, Louellen Beery and infant Naomi Howdyshell.
