Floyd Vanderhoof Jr.

Floyd Edward Vanderhoof Jr., age 75, of Elsie, MI, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Ray Strawser officiating.  Burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery, Fairfield Township, MI.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and also on Saturday from 11:00 A.M until 1:00 P.M. before the funeral service.

Floyd was born in Milford, MI on January 25, 1943, the son of Floyd Edward Sr. and Josephine Ruth (Brendel) Vanderhoof. He graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1961. Floyd married Barbara Jean Sovis on July 19, 1980 at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI.

Floyd was a lifelong farmer in the Ovid and Elsie areas. He enjoyed watching westerns on TV.  He loved attending the Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Show and any farm shows.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Vanderhoof of Elsie, MI; daughter Emily and Matt Weis of Atlanta, GA; son Floyd III “Butch” and Nicole Vanderhoof of Ovid, MI; granddaughter Gabbrielle Vanderhoof of Ovid, MI; grandson Matthew Vanderhoof of Ovid, MI; and sister Judy Gravilla of Owosso, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
