Forestine Lucille Oster, 95, of St. Louis, MI, left this life and entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. John Eich officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the service at the funeral home.

Forestine was born in Alma, MI on July 25, 1924, the daughter of Clarence and Ilo (White) Housenkamp. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1942.

On June 12, 1948, Forestine married Duane Russell Oster at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MI.  After nearly 27 years of marriage, Duane passed away suddenly in March 1975.

Forestine was a Ward Clerk at Gratiot Community Hospital for many years. She was a wonderful homemaker and an amazing baker known especially for her raspberry pie and rolls. One Christmas, Forestine made 27 pies to give to families for Christmas with baking instructions included! But most of all, she will be remembered as a loving Mom and Grandma.

Forestine loved her Lord and her faith was a central part of her life.  She was a Sunday School teacher and worked in Vacation Bible School for many years at Zion Lutheran (St. Louis), Immanuel Lutheran (Wheeler), and Good Shepherd Luther (Alma). She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Alma, MI.

Forestine is survived by 3 sons: Jeff (Judy) Oster of Traverse City, Jan (Sheila) Oster of St. Louis, Larry (Martina) Oster of Traverse City, 11 grandchildren: Jennilyn Oster, Jesse (Beth) Oster, Brian (Rachel) Oster, Michael (Stephanie) Oster, Randy (Nicki) Oster, Stacy Oster, Laura (Greg) Barrett, Adam (Danielle) Oster, Courtney Oster, Aaron Oster, and Angel Oster. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren: Ivy, Abigail, Shelby, Mackenna, Natalie, Keegan, Adrian, Leah, Gabriel, Elyse, Aidan, Colton, Logan, and Hudson; sister Lorraine Lietzke, and brother Richard (Deloris) Housenkamp.  Forestine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, nephew Darrel Housenkamp, and brother-in-law John Lietzke.
