Frances Burl

Frances Ruth Burl age 88 of Owosso, Michigan died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Burton Kincaid and Rev. Mark Kincaid will officiate with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family present 3-5 & 6-8 p.m.

Frances was born in Fairfield Township, Michigan on January 22, 1920 the daughter of Samuel and Pearl ( Emmert ) Mort. She resided most of her life in Owosso, she graduated from Elsie High School and received her teaching certificate from Central Michigan University. Frances married Raymond "Dick" Burl on June 16, 1940 in Eureka, Michigan. He passed away in 1975. Frances taught 1st - 8th grades at a country school and retired from Midwest Abrasive. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with family gatherings being very important to her. Frances loved to read, go out to eat, and she liked to travel. She loved birds and feeding them in her yard. Frances was a member of TOPS. She loved her church and was a member of the First Free Methodist Church of Owosso.

She is survived by her sons; Gary & Sue Burl of Shepherd, MI, Ron & Margaret Burl of Corunna, MI, Dave & Evelyn Burl of Corunna, MI, Phil & Marie Burl of Owosso, MI, Kent & Bonnie Burl of Flushing, MI, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, special friends and her church family. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Raymond "Dick", infant brother Ralph, two brothers; Carl & Donald Mort, and two sisters; Erma Murray and Bobbie Teed.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers, to the First Free Methodist Church of Owosso. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
