Frances Clapp

Frances Kay Clapp, age 75, of Steele, ND, formerly of Elsie/Chapin MI, went to be cradled in the loving arms of the Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the service.

Kay was born on September 14, 1945, in St. Johns, MI, to Paul and Frances (Somers) Jones.  Kay graduated from Elsie High School in 1963. She married Elmer Clapp on November 4, 1962. Elmer preceded her in death in 2013.

Kay, as she was always known, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Always a people-person, Kay opened her heart and arms to so many.  Kay had many hobbies. She loved to sew and made many beautiful quilts over the years.

Surviving Kay are her children: Paul (Wendy) Clapp of Cadillac, Patrick (Pam) Clapp of Owosso, Mylynn (Jerod) Tufte of Kidder County, ND, Joyelle (Joe) Dorer of Holt, Liisa Clapp of Steele, ND, and Garrett Clapp (Aleph) of California; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Kay is also survived by her siblings Lois (Jerry) Boone, RJ (Sue) Jones, and LD Jones, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Kay was preceded in death by Elmer, her husband of 51 years, her parents Paul and Frances Jones, and granddaughter Mayna.
