Frances Marie Worthington, age 94, of Owosso, MI died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Owosso on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Susan Kingsley will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 6-8 PM. and on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 2-4& 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
Frances was born in Owosso, Michigan on December 17, 1916, the daughter of Otto William and Grace Louise (Stanton) Lindburg. She married Fred Van Worthington on August 5, 1933 and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2003 after 70 years of marriage.
Frances was a retired supervisor from Universal Electric after 25 years of service. She formerly worked at Partz Products and Senate Drive In. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member, past chairperson of S.C.O.A.-Volunteer Sight Committee and member of S.C.O.A. Board of Directors. She loved painting and other crafts. She made lots of things from plastic, canvas and yarn for the craft sales at the senior center.
Frances is survived by daughter Barbara Davis of Owosso, MI son Daniel and Linda Worthington of St. George, UT, son Lawrence Worthington of Holland, MI, daughter Nancy and Glen Hill of East Lansing, MI, daughter Karen and Fred Roberts of Sacramento, CA, son David and Marie Worthington of Owosso, MI, daughter Rebecca Crites of Owosso, MI, daughter Marsha and John Lojewski of Charlotte, MI, 34 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband Fred, Frances was preceded in death by granddaughters; Brenda Hancock and Laura Hancock, grandson Steven Hancock, great grandsons; David Hancock, Ruben James DeHoyos, Daniel Worthington, III and Derek Worthington, son-in-law George Davis Jr., 3 sisters; Lois Tyler, Eva Worthington and Thelma Tyler and 2 brothers; Cecil and Joseph Lindburg.
A special thanks to Wayne Snyder for all of his acts of kindness to our mother over the years. We appreciate mom having such a good neighbors.
