Francis Marion Harry, age 91, of St. Louis, MI, peacefully entered into the arms of his Savior Sunday, August 25, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7400 Begole Rd., Alma, MI on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Eich officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI and on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Francis was born in Jasper Township, MI on January 17, 1928, the son of Hazen and Viola (Wallace) Harry. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1946. He also took classes through the MSU agricultural short course program. On August 25, 1956, Francis married Joan Barbara Vasold at Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland, MI. Together Francis and Joan were blessed with 63 years of marriage prior to his passing on their anniversary.
Francis was a life long farmer. In his later years, he enjoyed golfing. Francis and Joan spent many years dancing, bicycling, and cross country skiing. They also did a lot of traveling to the National Parks and birding both domestically and internationally.
Francis was a member of the Midland County Farm Bureau. He was also a life long member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served on the church council.
Francis is survived by his wife Joan of St. Louis, son David (Lisa) Harry of St. Louis, daughter Diane (David) Faust of Onsted, son Daniel (Sally) Harry of St. Johns, and 7 grandchildren: Nicholas Harry, Luke Harry, Noah Harry, Hailey (Andy) Barrus, Curtis Schaldach, Alex Harry, and Katherine Harry. He is also survived by sister-in-law Janet Harry and several nieces and nephews. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers: Lawrence Harry and Kenneth (Rosemary) Harry.
