Frank J. Chovance Sr., age 77, went to be with his heavenly family on Sunday, August 8, 2004, after a brief illness. Funeral services for Frank will be held on Wednesday, August 11 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt and Mr. Thomas Bradley will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Monday & Tuesday from 2-8 P.m. with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.m. Frank was born November 17, 1926 in Perrinton, Michigan, the son of August and Maria Chovance. He married Irene Cerny on November 10, 1951 in Bannister, Michigan. During his life, Frank was proud to have served in the U.S. Marines during WW II. He was drafted in his senior year of high school and the yearbook was dedicated to him in his honor. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #4113, and a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225 in Bannister. He had worked for Eugene Welding and farmed. Frank loved gardening, watching sports, reading, crossword puzzles and spend time with his family. He enjoyed taking his family to their cottage up north. Survivors include his wife; Irene Chovance of Bannister, Michigan, 3 daughters; Sharon Pavlik of Dewitt, Michigan, Patricia & Terry Larner of Perry, Michigan, Jean & Vince Foess of Farwell, Michigan and 1 son; Frank & Patty Chovance Jr. of Bath, Michigan. Also surviving Frank are 9 grandchildren; Kimberly, Steven, Kristina, Mary, Travis, Tim, Steve, Ricky and Josie. He was predeceased in death by his parents, 1 grandson, John, 1 sister, Mary and 2 brothers, Gus and Steve. Memorials may be made to Carson City Hospice or the ZCBJ Lodge #225.
