Frank Evans Hoshield, age 81, of Elsie, MI died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ralph Parkin officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Frank was born in Elsie, Michigan on November 26, 1929, the son of Rudolph and Ruby (Evans) Hoshield. He graduated from Elsie High School. On October 6, 1951 Frank married his high school sweetheart, Gwen Howard, in Angola, Indiana. Frank was a mechanic; he worked at Fritz's Union 76 for many years, he also went to work and retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing. Frank enjoyed working in his yard, woodworking, bird watching, and working crossword puzzles. He was a loving family man. He resided all of his life in the Elsie area. Frank was also a member of the UAW.

He is survived by his wife Gwen Hoshield of Elsie, MI, son Dennis and Susan Hoshield of Petoskey, MI, daughter Darlene and Randy Enos of Chesaning, MI, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Beatrice and William Baese, Dorthea Kelly and sister in law Judy Hoshield. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 daughter Debra, 1 son Daniel, 4 sisters; Genevieve, Vena, Roslyn, Olive, and 3 brothers; Charles, Homer, Clayton.
