Frank Edward Sohorec, age 74, of Owosso, MI passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:30; Rev. Fr. David Fisher will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel, Corunna.
Frank was born in New Haven Township, Michigan on February 4, 1936, the son of John and Katherine (Minarick) Sohorec. He graduated with the class of 1954 from Chesaning High School. Frank married Betty Kalisek at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso on June 30, 1956. Frank worked for G.M. in Flint at the Chevy Metal Fabrication Plant as a Supervisor until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed polka music and played with several bands in the area. Frank recorded five polka albums over the years. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, fishing for perch on Higgins Lake at the family cottage, playing cards and spending time with his family. He enjoyed a good joke and was a sports enthusiast. He resided most of his life in the Chesaning area. He was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge in Owosso, the Michigan Polka Hall of Fame, the Kiwanis Club of Owosso and Past President of the Owosso Chapter of the N.F.O. Frank was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as a minister of Eucharist.
He is survived by his wife Betty Sohorec, his children; Debbie Brooks of Roscommon, MI, Shelley and Mike Lepior of Owosso, MI, Wendy and Jim Agah of Westport, CT, grandchildren; Jordan and Cindy Brooks, Brandon and Missy Lepior, Trent and Katie Brooks, Trevor and Kari (Mills) Lepior, Amber Brooks, Joe and Heather (Miller) Lepior, Tony Lepior, Alexandra Agah, Devin Agah, great grandchildren; Reghan Lepior, Reece Lepior, Thomas Brooks. He was predeceased by his parents, brother John, sister Emily, son-in-law Buck Brooks and his in-laws Tony and Julia Kalisek.
