Frederick Beach Jr.

Frederick Oliver "Fred" Beach Jr., age 70, of Ovid, MI, passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Spectrum Health Systems - Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids, MI.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Frederick was born in MI on January 7, 1950, the son of Frederick Oliver and Opal Irene (Fuller) Beach Sr. He attended Ovid Public Schools.

On January 22, 1977, Frederick married Kathleen L. Lighthill at First Church of the Nazarene in Owosso. They were blessed with nearly 44 years of marriage.

Frederick was a hard worker and worked at LEAR and Heinze Dairy Farm. In his spare time, he enjoyed his trucks and going to mud bogs with his family.  He liked spending time outdoors and a cold beer. Most of all, Frederick loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Frederick is survived by his wife Kathleen, 4 children: Christine Lighthill-Chunko of Owosso, MI, Terrie (Tim) Young of Springfield, OR, Frederick O. Beach III of Ovid, MI, and Trent (Christin) Beach of Owosso, MI. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Stephanie Friend, Stephen Friend, Shawnelle Lighthill, Kelsey Lighthill, Eric (Aylizha) Lighthill, Zakori Benham, Masen Beach, Riley Beach, and Tessa Beach; 6 great-grandchildren, brother Ken Beach, sister Debra Searles, and many nieces and nephews.  Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters: Patricia (Russ) Little, and Judy Chalker.
