Frederick Czape, Jr.

Frederick "Fred" Czape, Jr., age 89 of Ithaca, MI, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, with Rev. Fr. Andizej Boroch officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Garden Cemetery, Seville Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Frederick was born in Mt. Pleasant, MI on December 6, 1928, the son of Fred   and Rose (Falacz) Czape. He married Shirley Allspaugh on November 23, 1951, in Alma, MI.

Fred retired a UAW member from General Motors, Fisher Body Lansing after 46.3 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, horseshoes, woodworking, golfing, and bowling. He loved the time spent with his family especially playing with his grandsons. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Ithaca, MI. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska with his younger brother John.

He is survived by wife Shirley Czape of Ithaca, MI; children: Kristine Czape of Sturgis, MI; Jeanine Czape and Terry Rozen of St. Charles, MI; Bryan and Lynn Czape of Lapeer, MI; grandons: Jared and Brady Czape of Lapeer, MI, grandpuppy Dexter, brother: Bill and Jean Sapp of Midland, MI; brother: John Czape of Gladwin, MI; and sister: Jane Sartor-Key of Clare, MI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joe, John, Michael, Harry, Paul, and sister: Stella.
