Frederick Lee "Fred" Vess

     Frederick Lee "Fred" Vess, age 86, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Maple View Assisted Living Inc., Ithaca, MI.

      In following Fred's wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.

      Frederick was born in Pontiac, Michigan on February 9, 1937, the son of Rollin and Arvella (Miller) Vess.  He graduated from Clarkston High School with the class of 1955.  Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  On April 3, 1963, Fred married Sue Carol Chamberlain at a family home in Clarkston, MI. They have been married for sixty years.

     Fred was a barber in Clarkston and Ortonville for many years. He also was a custodian for Clarkston Public Schools. He enjoyed attending High School sports and going to the casino. Most of all, Fred loved spending time with family and friends.

     He is survived by his wife Sue; two children: Scott Vess of Davisburg, MI; and Sandy (Chris) Palazzolo of Fenton, MI; two grandsons: Timothy and Thomas Palazzolo; his sister Rolla Vess; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Jack, Gerald, Lawrence, and Nolla.
