Gathel Rigsby

Gathel O. “Gate” Rigsby, age 90, of Marion Springs, MI passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Ovid Healthcare Center.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Michigan on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor John James officiating.  Burial will take place at Marion Township Cemetery Marion Springs, MI.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Gathel was born in Marion Springs, Michigan on April 30, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Beatrice (Olney) Good.  Gate and Bert Rigsby were together for many years and in 1984 they were married; Bert died in 1985.  Gate was a homemaker and enjoyed having coffee and playing cards.  She was a great cook. Gate resided most of her life in Elsie area and attended Racy Free Methodist Church.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and sister in law Janet Good. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 2 sisters; Zella and Dorothy, and 6 brothers; Herman, Harold, Donald, Kenneth, Charles and Lester.
