Gene Stanley Canze age 66, of Owosso, MI died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 1:00 PM, Pastor Cal Emerson will officiate. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel.
Gene was born in Owosso, Michigan on December 30, 1941, the son of Stanley George and Beatrice Irene (Farlow) Canze. He resided all of his life in Owosso. He graduated from Chesaning High School and received a Bachelors Degree from Baker. Gene retired from Baker College of Owosso working in Security, prior to that he worked at Midwest Abrasive. He was a member of the Local UAW as well as a past steward and a past president. He loved to build models, he liked cars and train sets. He was a car racing fan and enjoyed going to Owosso Speedway. Collecting was his passion. Gene enjoyed reading western novels by Louie Lamour and watching western movies. He liked riding motorcycles and dune buggies.
He is survived by son Kevin and Jeannine Canze of Ann Arbor, MI, daughter Karen and Dan Ruhl of Owosso, MI, son Brian Canze of Illinois, daughter Ginny and Jason Hart of Missouri, 7 grandchildren; Sarah Conrad, Donavan & Audri Canze, Jewel, Kimberly & Jason Jr. Bullard, and Ethan Canze mother Beatrice Canze of Owosso, MI, sister Ruth and Bill Bleisner of Chesaning, MI, brother George and Lenore Canze of Corunna, MI, brother Gerald and Shirley Canze of Owosso, MI, brother Albert Canze of Minnesota, and sister Betty and Doug Osmer of Henderson, MI. He was predeceased by his father, Stanley Canze and brother Orville in infancy.
