Geneva Husted

Geneva Irene Husted, age 93, of Carson City, Michigan, formerly of Arcada Township, Ithaca, Michigan passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 at Laurel's of Carson City

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, Michigan on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Chuck Steiner and Pastor Robert Norris officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 5, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Geneva was born January 7, 1919 to Albert "Bert" Church and Bessie Caranahan from Arcada Township, Ithaca, Michigan. On June 6, 1941 she married Leslie Husted in Ithaca, Michigan. They enjoyed forty-three years together traveling through out the United States. Geneva was a life time member of the First Baptist Church in Ithaca, Michigan. Her faith was very important to her. She loved being one of the church's secretaries. She attended the old Davis School through the eighth grade and then graduated from Ithaca High School. After taking business management, bookkeeping, and accounting classes she got her degree from a community college which was located in St. Louis, Michigan.

Growing up she was often seen driving her father's steam engine and thrashing machine from field to field. Geneva and husband, Les farmed their 300 acres on St. Charles Road near Ithaca, Michigan which was a centennial farm. Geneva was employed by the Elevator's in Middleton and Ithaca, Michigan. She excelled doing the book-keeping ledgers, accounting books and customer service. During this time, she also managed and maintained all the books, and figured the tax information for their own farm business, she continued to do this until 2008. Some kids may remember her as a Ithaca School bus driver she did this for 7 years. Her husband, Leslie Husted preceded her in an accidental death in 1984. An older sister Gretta Welsford and an older brother E.J. Church and also several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws preceded her in death. Geneva is the mother of two children, her son Douglas Husted and wife Sharon of Carson City, Michigan and daughter Darlene (Husted) Frost and husband Roger of Stanton, Michigan. Grandmother of two grandsons; Kevin Husted, wife Bridget and Joshua Husted. Great Grandmother to Larissa Husted, Brett Husted and Payton Husted. One brother-in-law, Wendell Husted, wife Donna, and niece, Berdilla (Deitrich) and nephew, Matt Welsford survive. Geneva always enjoyed the monthly visits from Pastor Norris and the many letters and cards from her church friends.
