George Earl Hier Sr. age 76 of Burton, Michigan formerly of Owosso, Michigan died Friday, December 22, 2006 at his sona�(TM)s home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Robert D. Taylor will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
George was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 2, 1930 the son of Jessie Eddy and Myrtie Lelah ( Luce ) Hier. He resided most of his life in the Owosso & Burton areas and graduated from Owosso High School. George married Electa Lou Hier on February 14, 1991. She died on September 25, 2000. He worked for Pete's Plumbing & Heating for 20 years and for Goyette for 20 years. He retired in 1992 from Goyette. George was a member of the Owosso Eagles and Croatian Clubs, as well as the Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local 370 in Flint.
He is survived by his son Dennis & Vickie Hier of Phoenix, AZ, son Stephen & Madeline Hier of Burton, MI, son George & Christy Hier of Tampa, FL, daughter Deborah Hier of Burton, MI, son Douglas & Therece Hier of Murrieta, CA, daughter Pamela & Fred Mellish Jr. of Clare, MI, daughter Laurie Marie & Robert Dillen of Colorado Springs, CO, son Jesse Hier of Burton, MI, 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, step-children; Geri & McCoy Wells of Portland, OR, Terrie & Denny Parker of Middleville, MI, Douglas & Sherry Green of Corunna, MI, Gary & Nancy Green of Plainwell, MI, 10 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren, 1 step- great great grandchild, brother Erwin & Janet Hier of Owosso, MI, sister Edith Allen of Keithsburg, IL. He is predeceased by his parents, 1st wife Gail (Churchill) Hier in 1983, 2nd wife Electa Lou Hier, 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild, and step-son Larry Green.
