George Kennan

George Savage Keenan, age 81, of Bancroft, MI passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at House of Prayer, 9440 East Old M-78, Haslett, Michigan 48840, on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Dave Cokonougher officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel.

George was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 31, 1930, the son of Joseph and Frances (Savage) Keenan.

George and his wife Connie were married 53 years before she passed away on August 16, 2010. They raised 4 children together on their farm in Bancroft and he resided most of his life in Bancroft. He was retired from Chevrolet. George loved gardening, woodworking, being out in the woods and going to his cottage up north. But most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family. George was an active member of the House of Prayer in Haslett.

George is survived by his daughter Laura and Bill Vario Keenan of Roseville, MI, son John Keenan of Battle Creek, MI, son Gregory Keenan of Ovid, MI, daughter Anne and Jamie Carpenter of Bancroft, MI, 9 grandchildren; Erin Vavricka, Keegan Carpenter, Adam Keenan, Riley Carpenter, Keenan Lyon, Mallory Keenan, Sarah Keenan, Natalie Keenan and David Keenan, and brother Robert and Beverly Keenan of Canberra, Australia. George was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers; Thomas & Joseph Keenan and nephew Thomas Keenan.
