George LaVere Norris, age 81, of Ithaca, MI died Monday, April 19, 2010 at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., Mr. Keith Wise will officiate. Burial will be follow at Ithaca Cemetery Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI.

George was born in North Star, Township, Michigan on November 8, 1928, the son of Ernest and Hazel (Miller) Norris. George worked at Wolverine Worldwide Shoe Industry in Ithaca for 30 years. He enjoyed collecting old cars and restoring them. He belonged to an Old Car Club and traveled with them in his 1937 Ford. George resided most of his life in the Ithaca area.

He is survived by his sister Wilma and Gerald Gingrich of Elsie, MI, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 brother Raymond, and 2 sisters; Joanne and Betty Ann.
