Jodie Gregory, 81 from Farmington, New Mexico, passed away at her home on April 24, 2009. Born in Owosso, Michigan, on January 4, 1928, to Claire and Nina Longstreet, Jodie will be remembered with great joy and love by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Jodie grew up in Michigan where she married Larry Williams, who passed away in an auto accident in 1955. Her first son, Dennis Alan Williams, served honorably in the United States Army and died on the battlefields of Vietnam. Her second son, James Lee Williams passed away accidentally in Farmington, NM in 1979. Her third son, Rusty Williams, resides in Farmington.
In 1956, Jodie married Ellis Gregory. In 1959, the family moved to Oceanside, CA and over the next 18 years lived in several cities before finally settling down in Farmington.
Jodie's love of music was enjoyed by many. She played piano and organ for her family and she and Ellis entertained Farmington as members of the popular "Hillbilly Band". She was also an accomplished artist in oil, and was known for her beautiful still life and landscape paintings.
Jodie's tender heart and boundless love for family and friends will be remembered by those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Claire Longstreet; sister, Maxine Wing; sons, Dennis and James Williams; and grand-daughter Christiane Williams. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ellis Gregory; mother, Nina Bompezzi of Owosso, MI; brother, Mick Longstreet of Folerville, MI; brother-in-law, Mert Wing of Corunna, MI; son, Rusty Williams of Farmington, NM; daughter-in-law, Virginia Gomez of Grants Pass, Oregon; grandchildren, Rand Williams of Aliso Viejo, CA; Charity Woods of Aurora, CO; and Zach Williams of Farmington. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren; Jesse Trost, Ashley and Brittney Woods, Parker and Callie Williams, and Lucas and Arwen Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church, 808 N. Monterey Ave., in Farmington.
