Gerald D. Glinke, age 77, of Mt.Pleasant passed away peacefully Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Masonic Pathways in Alma.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Smith Family Funeral Home, St.Louis chapel with Rev. Ron Vrederveldt officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 12 from 5-8pm and Tuesday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Breckenridge.
Gerald was born March 24, 1927 in Breckenridge, MI to Rudolph and Gladys (Barnes) Glinke. He graduated from Breckenridge High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard a US Submarine during the Pearl Harbor attack.
He resided in the Breckenridge/Midland areas for many years and retired from Dow Chemical. Gerald had a passion for ice cream, fishing, and his loved ones. He was especially fond of his fishing get-aways, and "hunting camp" weeks, with his family and friends.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Sharon Glinke of Mt.Pleasant; seven step children; one grandson, Michael Glinke; one special nephew Terry and Linda Moon; stepgrandchildren; and great grandchildren. Also surviving are Geralds sisters, Grace Badour of Midland, Goldie Moon of Forrest Hill, Gaytha Peak of Alma, and brother George and Margaret Glinke of Shelby Twp. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his son Lawrence, his sister Genevieve, stepdaughter Karen Miller of Wheeler, brothers in law, Arthur Badour, Russell Moon, and Raymond Peak.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimers Association or the Isabella County Commission on Aging. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, 117 N. East Street St.Louis, MI 48880.
