Gerald Haynes

Gerald "Jerry" Curtis Haynes age 70 of Carsonville, MI, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan.

Gerald was born in Flint, Michigan on May 30, 1946, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Romanski) Haynes.  Jerry resided most of his life in Bannister and Carsonville areas.

After graduation from Ashley Community High School in 1964 he joined the U.S. Navy, serving proudly as a Yeoman 3rd Class until 1970 serving on the USS Fiske.  During that time he passed through the Panama Canal, served in Subic Bay Phillipines and was active in the Vietnam conflict.  Jerry retired from Saginaw County Road Commission later working with the Sanilac County Road System.  He took great pride in his craftsmanship of a perfectly paved road.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, car shows and riding his Harley, most important to him was time reflecting at his pond.  Jerry also enjoyed feeding birds and building birdhouses.  Jerry was especially proud of his two daughters.

He is survived by his 2 daughters; Robin and Patrick Cordray of Ashley, MI, and Amanda and Benjamin Swinson of Midland, MI, 5 grandchildren; Courtney, Brittany, Tyler, Stephanie and Lillian, 3 great-grandchildren, sister Susan and Don Weita of Jacksonville, FL, sister-in-law Charlene Haynes of Arizona, nieces & nephews; Michelle Trapp, Chantal Cook, Jenny Harmon, Derrick Haynes, Michael Haynes, Jeffery Weita, Andy Weita, Shannon Charles, Janine Schrecengost, Paul Weita, Jimmy Weita, D'Ann Sprockett and Ryan Weita and several great nieces and nephews.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronald Haynes.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
