Gerald Long

Gerald Ray Long age 85 of Ithaca, MI, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Woodland Hospice House, Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI, on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Christina Jensen officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service.

Gerald was born in Owosso, MI on September 22, 1932, the son of Ralph and Leota (Smith) Long. He married Lillian Palek on July 3, 1954, in Ashley, MI.

Jerry retired from General Motors in 1990. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, woodworking, and the Detroit Tigers. Jerry and Lillian spent most of their summers at Cedar Shores, Harrison, MI and their winters in Zephyrhills, FL. While in Florida he liked riding around on his golf cart visiting with friends. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Harrison, MI, and Eagles and AMVETS in Zephyrhills, FL. He proudly served his country in the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lillian Long, daughters: Deb and Jeff Cords, Terri and Brian Tomasek, grandchildren: Chelsie Long, Zach Long, Aaron and Carla Crumbaugh, Marci and Jared Merchant, Tyler Cords, Brianna and Rob Hardaker, Brandi Tomasek, Abby Melling, brother Gareld Long, sister Donna and Lowell Lockwood, sister Connie and Jerry Blount, brother in law Willard Goldman, brother in law Jerry and Patty Palek, sister in law Lucy and Rick Camp, and great grandchildren: Bailey, William, Aiden, Kaiya, Cash, Harper, Greyson, Ellison, Beau, Bryer, Rosie, and 3 great grandchildren on the way.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son Eric, brother Reuben Olsen, sisters: Cleta, Marilyn and Linda and sisters in law: Aleene and Onalee.
