Gerald Francis "Jerry" Lott, age 82, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at Grace Haven Assisted Living, St. Johns, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI. A Vigil and Rosary will take place at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at South Bingham Township Cemetery, St. Johns, MI at a later date.
Jerry was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 21, 1942, the son of Francis Alvin and Alice Elizabeth (DeRosia) Lott. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the Class of 1960. Jerry married Nancy Jo Trecy on January 30, 1965, at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI.
Jerry retired from General Motors after 37 years, retiring in 1999.He proudly served in the Michigan Army National Guard for 21 years, retiring in 1990. Jerry was called up to active duty during the Detroit Riots. He was an avid MSU fan and was a season ticket holder for basketball & football for many years. Jerry even attended the Rosebowl in 2014. He loved the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Twins. He liked muscle cars, attending car shows, and drag racing. He was proud of his 1998 Corvette. Jerry was a supportive grandpa who loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. He was known all over town by many and enjoyed walking. Most of all, Jerry looked forward to spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in St. Johns.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Nancy Lott of St. Johns, MI; children: Malinda (Jacob) Huffman of Lansing, MI; Michele (Thomas) Fraker of Charlotte, MI; Gerald "Chip" (Charice) Lott of St. Peters, MO; Melanie (Jim) Kotowicz of St. Johns, MI; and Monica (Blake) Smith of Holt, MI; 13 grandchildren: Thomas (Alexis) Fraker, Luke Fraker, Oakley Fraker, Emma Lott (fiancé Alex Schilling), Grace Lott, Grant Lott, Madisyn (Connor) Jackson, Allisyn Kotowicz, Jamison Kotowicz, Jocelyn Kotowicz, Alayna Smith, Ayden Smith, and Aubreyana Smith; step-grandchildren: Jordynn Huffman and Airman Ross Huffman; and great-grandchildren: Ethan & Emmett Fraker. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Carol) Lott, his sister Frances (Dennis) Springstead, and sisters-in-law: Kay Lott, Janet (Al) Graham, and special nephew Trecy Lott. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Alice Lott, infant son Stuart, grandson Blake Smith II, his siblings: Patricia Lott, David Lott, Michael Lott, Roxanne Lott, and Sylvia Loomis.
