Gerald J. Pohl, loving husband, father, and grandfather died Friday, February 14, 2014 at the age of 82. Born April 11, 1931 to Louis and Catherine (Thelen) Pohl, Gerald served in the US Army, was a farmer, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and VFW Post #3733. In 1955, he married Helen Pohl and she preceded him in death in 1992. In 1994 Gerald married Joan Feldpausch Pohl, and she survives him.
Also surviving are his children; Dave (Jeanette) Pohl, Thomas Pohl, James (fiancAC. Molly Hart) Pohl, Louis Pohl, Bruce Pohl, Mary (Glenn) Esch, Gerald (Patricia) Pohl, and Michael (Cassandra) Pohl; 20 grandchildren; brothers, Fr. Leon Pohl, Joe (Marie) Pohl; sisters; Sister Bernadine and Sister Mary Ann Pohl. Along with his wife, Helen, Gerald was preceded in death by his grandchildren; Karen and Jamie; brother; Norbert Pohl; and sisters; Rosalyn (Delbert) Smith, Sister Adeline and Sister Dorothy Pohl.
A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with burial following at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2014 with a rosary being prayed at 3 PM and a Vigil Service being prayed at 8 PM at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home, 11112 W. Ionia St, Fowler, MI.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund, 545 N. Maple St., Fowler, MI 48835. The family is being served by Osgood Funeral Homes.
