Gerald "Gerry" Gene Rorabacher, age 80, of Ithaca, MI died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Masonic Pathways in Alma.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Steven Young will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Gerry was born in Northville, Michigan on March 25, 1929, the son of Merle and Berenice (Becker) Rorabacher. He attended Plymouth High School. Gerry married Bonnie B. Bills on November 1, 1947. She passed away on January 16, 2000. Gerry had resided in Ithaca for many years. He retired from Saginaw County Sheriffs Department as a Deputy Sheriff. Prior to that, he served as the Gratiot County Sheriff for 14 years, and was also the Ithaca Chief of Police. He was a Past Master Mason for the Ithaca Masonic Lodge #123, and was also a member of the Alma Elks Lodge. Gerry also enjoyed woodworking projects, and traveling throughout the world, including many cruises. He also liked working on the computer, and attending internet chat meets. He loved spending time with his family. Gerry attended the Ithaca United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia and Terry Roberts of Wheeler, MI, 4 grandchildren; Michele and Bernard Lyons of Battle Creek, MI, Denise Pascoe of Alma, MI, Terry and Lindsey Roberts, Jr. of Wheeler, MI, Jessica Roberts of Wheeler, MI, 6 great grandchildren; Samantha, Daniel, Christopher, Timothy, Lillian, and Davalyn, sister Velda Holloway of Ypsilanti, MI, and a sister in law Mary Jane Bills of Crystal, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
