Geraldine Mae "Gerry" Workman, age 96, died peacefully at Masonic Pathways Home in Alma, MI. while under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice, on January 17, 2013.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns, MI on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Matthew Olson officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and an Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Gerry was born January 5, 1917 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Howard and Esther (Coffman) Plowman. She was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School. Gerry married Arthur G. Workman on August 17, 1938. He died in April of 1967. Gerry retired from Clinton National Bank (1979) after having a banking career for most of her life. Gerry's hobbies were crafting, card playing, gardening (especially flowers), crocheting, knitting, reading, and cooking. She had always been an active member of St. Johns Congregational Church and Congregators. Gerry was a devoted Eastern Star member. She received her 50 year membership certificate in 2002.
Gerry will be remembered for her million dollar smile which she shared with everyone. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, and a community which honored her as one of Clinton County's pioneering women. She leaves behind many wonderful memories in this world, but her journey will take her to a homecoming by many in the next world.
Surviving are her son Ed of Florida and daughter Jo Ann (George) Ford of Moran, MI, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her husband Art, she was preceded in death by her son Don, and 3 sisters; Dorothy Sexton, Betty LeClear, Rosella Burnham.
