Gilbert Maxwell

Gilbert Vern Maxwell, age 60 of Ithaca, MI passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Phil Maxwell officiating.  Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 prior to the service from 11:00-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Gilbert was born in Detroit, MI on June 10, 1956, the son of Melvin and Beverly (Shaw) Maxwell.  He was a graduate of Ithaca High School and Gilbert resided all of his life in Ithaca.  Gilbert retired from Ithaca Public Schools.  He was an avid drummer and had a love of automobiles.

He is survived by 3 sons; Jeremy Maxwell of Lansing, MI,  Zachary and Jamie Maxwell of Edmore, MI, Jonathon and Connie Maxwell of Summerville, SC, 6 grandchildren; Blake, Kelsie, Nevaeh, Brione, Kolton and baby Elliot on the way, mother Virginia Maxwell of Ithaca, MI, and  niece Tressa and Andrew Sosnowski of Bay City, MI.  Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kimberly Weber and brother Douglas in infancy.
