Gilbert Nelson Baker

     A BRANCH FELL FROM OUR FAMILY TREE ON JANUARY 25, 2024,
     Gilbert Nelson "Gil" Baker, age 89, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Grace Haven Assisted Living, St. Johns, Michigan.
     The family of Gil Baker is inviting you to a luncheon and time of reminiscing on August 4th, 2024, at the K of C Hall, 1108 N. Business US-27 in St. Johns from 1 to 4 PM.
     Gilbert was born in Charlevoix, Michigan on August 27, 1934, the son Nelson and Johanna (Bronersky) Baker. On December 5, 1952, Gilbert married Wanda Evitts in Big Rapids, Michigan.
     Gil loved his family, farm, friends, Florida, and Fords; and always had a tale to tell about them.
     He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Wanda, children: Rose (Gary) Purvis, Gil (Kathy) Baker, Nancy Baker, Sue (David) Roush, and Dell (Terri) Baker, Joe (Nicole) Purvis, Theresa (John) Cristea, David Baker, Jimm Daniel, and Ian Baker call him Grandpa. Jory (Moji) Purvis, Michael Purvis, Gavin (Alli) Purvis, Jonathon Cristea and Lukas Cristea call him Great-Grandpa; with a great-great-grandchild expected in November. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews in the Detroit and Tampa areas. He was preceded in death are his mother Johanna Earegood, father Nelson Baker, brother Tom, sister Nellie LaLonde, and granddaughter Rachel May Baker.
     Gil lived a life of almost 90 years and, though his presence may be missed, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched.
     A limb has fallen from the Family Tree,
     that says Grieve not for me....
     Remember the Best Times, the Laughter, the Song.
