G. Joan Oles

G. Joan Oles, 80, of Harrison, MI, passed away suddenly Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Midland, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Living Word, 1100 N. Ovid Rd., Ovid, MI, on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Audie Clairmont officiating with a time for visiting with family and friends 1 hour prior.

Joan was born in St. Johns, MI on June 27, 1939, the daughter of Claude and Geraldine (Chadwick) Underhill. She graduated from Ovid High School with the class of 1957.

Joan LOVED to read! She also liked to watch NASCAR and Michigan football and go to the casino. She enjoyed cooking, baking and watching the FOOD Network. Joan liked gardening, especially tending her roses. Most of all, Joan loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Church of the Living Word.

Joan is survived by 3 sons: Rick (Debra) Smith of Harrison, Russell (Julie) Smith of Elsie, and Kevin (Chara) Smith of Owosso; 10 grandchildren: Cody Smith, Tyler Smith, Bette Smith, Heather Culbert, Russell Bush, Akeyla Smith, Dakota Smith, Brook Smith, Bailee Smith, and Abigail Smith; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 siblings: Lois Olson, James Underhill, Arlene Perry, and Robert Underhill; and many nieces and nephews.  Joan was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Tim Olson.
