Gladys Mitchell

Gladys Mitchell, age 78, of St. Louis, MI died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Nancy Casey Fulton will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 6-8 PM and again on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.

Gladys was born in Roseville, Michigan on February 26, 1931, the daughter of Walter and Gertrude (Maurice) Parenteau. She had resided in St. Louis since 1967. Gladys married Robert "Bob" Mitchell on August 8, 1972. She retired from Westgate Manor after 25 years of dedicated service, and enjoyed her children & grandchildren, going to garage sales, playing cards, sewing, and collecting dolls.

She is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Mitchell of St. Louis, MI, 10 children; Leah and Glen Kostal of St. Louis, MI, Forest "Jack" Denniston of St. Louis, MI, Lois and David Gruesbeck of Alma, MI, Kenneth and Julie Denniston of Breckenridge, MI, Laura and Roger Hitsman of Alma, MI, Rita Hitsman and Cary Muscott of St. Louis, MI, Max Denniston and Nan Fussell of Ludowici, GA, David and Janie Denniston of St. Louis, MI, John and Tammy Denniston of St. Louis, MI, Brad and Brenda Mitchell of St. Louis, MI, 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 sisters; Carmen, Rita, and Sandy, and 1 brother Wally. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Gary Mitchell, grandson Little Glenn Kostal, great granddaughter Lauren, 4 sisters, and 1 brother.
