Glen I. Holtforth, age 81, of Durand, MI and formerly of Owosso passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at his residence.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Owosso, MI, Rev. Ray A. Strawser II will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 3:00 P.M. at the church prior to the service.
Glen was born in Fenton, Michigan on August 1, 1928, the son of Irving L. and Georgia E. (Browning) Holtforth. Glen married Joan Shriver on July 8, 1951 in Owosso. He resided most of his life in Owosso.
Glen retired from General Motors, V-8 Engine Plant in Flint. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Mason with the Owosso Masonic Lodge, a member of the Bay City Consistory, an Elf Khurafeh Shriner and a member of the Shiawassee Shrine Club and the Shiawassee Club Fire Brigade. Glen was also a member of the American Legion Owosso Post, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Owosso serving as a past member of the Board of Deacons. He served his country in the U.S. Army; he was in the occupation forces in Japan following WW II.
Glen is survived by his wife Joan Holtforth of Durand, MI, daughter Paula Holtforth of Owosso, MI, son John and Melissa Holtforth of Lake Odessa, MI, daughter Sharon and Terry Yarbrough of Burton, MI, 7 grandchildren; Sydney and Lucas Holtforth, Kyle, Noah and Logan Spaine, and Autumn and Summer Yarbrough. He is also survived by 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Summers and a nephew Craig Shriver.
