Glenn Edward Hehrer, age 88, of Ovid, MI, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Sparrow Health Systems Sparrow Campus, Lansing, MI.
A private family service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI.
Glenn was born in Ashley, Michigan on October 9, 1934, the son of Edward Harold and Beatrice O. (Cordray) Hehrer. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1952. On January 16, 1960, Glenn married Rita Marie Gallt in Ovid, MI. They were blessed with sixty years of marriage prior to her passing on June 2, 2020.
Glenn retired from MMPA after forty-two years of service. While working at MMPA he also was a milk hauler and drove school bus for Ovid-Elsie Schools. Glenn was a volunteer firefighter with Ovid Fire for over ten years. Glenn loved fishing and trips to Drummond Island with family. Glenn proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his daughters: Renee Barton, Gwendolyn Hoyle, and Jodi and Kevin Kellermann; his son Bill and Rhonda Hehrer; his grandchildren: Camron (Katy), Robyn (Josh), Michael (Jackie), Katie, Amanda (Jeff), Kyle (Victoria), Whitney, Keith (Shelly), Ian (Chloe), and Evan; his great-grandchildren: Layla, Josie, Rayna, Ashton, Wyatt, Everly, Noah, Siena, Abigail, Mason, Logan, KayLee, Jase, Vaida, Kynlie, and Carl Joseph. He is also survived by his furbabies: Hector and Millie and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita, his in-laws, James and Alice Gallt, his grandson Joseph Andrew Hehrer, one great-grandson JR Hehrer, his sister Bernice (Benjamin) Beck, and one nephew Van Beck.
