Glenn R. Moore, age 94, of Livonia, and formerly of St. Louis, Michigan died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Woodhaven Retirement Community in Livonia, MI.
Private services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel. Entombment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, MI.
Glenn was born in Ionia, Michigan on July 31, 1916, the son of Fred R. and Henrietta (Warn) Moore. He was married to Lillian (Davies) Moore on September 7, 1937 in Muskegon, MI. She passed away November 15, 1987. Glenn retired from Elicon Engineering in Detroit as a plant manager in 1980, and had resided in St. Louis since. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge #123 in Ithaca and was very active in many Masonic affiliations. He was a member of the Alma and Livonia Elks Lodge, an avid golfer, and an active member of the Federation of Musicians #5. One of his greatest joys was playing music and he entertained with big bands in the 1930s. After settling in Detroit in the 1940s, he created his own band and continued to play until the 1960s.
He is survived by his two daughters; Marnee Westberg of Livonia, MI, Patti Branch Caldwell and Richard Caldwell of Lavon, TX, 5 grandchildren; Vicki Young, Wendy and Steve Rish, Eric and Selina Westberg, Marcy Check, G. Douglas Branch, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Charlene Branch, and a sister.
