Glenn "Jim" Peet Jr., age 88, of Alma, MI died Friday, September 26, 2014 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at East Superior Christian Church, Alma, MI on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor James Amstutz officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI.
Jim was born in Ithaca, Michigan on September 30, 1925, the son of Glenn Joseph and Caroline L. (Rolfe) Peet. He graduated from Ithaca High School and then served in the US Navy Air Force during WWII. Jim married Lorene June "Curly" Wood and June Alvis; they both preceded him in death. He married JoAnne (Michael) Humm on October 26, 1996, and she survives him. Jim was a lifelong resident of Ithaca. He had been employed with Hicks Company in Alma and Mepham Realtors. He loved golfing and was a square dance caller for 37 years. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and wintering in Florida for 30 years. He was also a member of East Superior Christian Church in Alma, MI.
Jim is survived by his wife JoAnne Peet of Alma, MI, son Terry and Diana Peet of St. Louis, MI, daughter Glenda Konecny of Ithaca, MI, son Tommy and Nancey Peet of Ithaca, MI, son Marty Peet of Ithaca, MI, son Bradley and Jeanne Peet of Ithaca, MI, stepchildren; Jeffrey and Karen Humm of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Michael and Rebecca Humm of Kentwood, MI, Jennifer and Jon Green of Shelby Township, MI, Andrew and Rebecca Humm of Mooresville, NC, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, and sister Maeola Little of Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 spouses, son in law Gilbert Konecny, 3 brothers; Alvin, Gerald, and Clifford, and a sister Donna Crites.
