Glenna Marie Ockert, age 96, of Alma, MI, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Arbor Grove Assisted Living, Alma, MI.
Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI.
Glenna was born in Millbrook Township, MI on August 8, 1925, the daughter of Floyd A. and Hazel B. (Lee) Oberlin. On June 15, 1946 she married Leander Anthony Ockert at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus, Michigan. Leander passed away on January 30, 2016.
Glenna loved crocheting, sewing, gardening and canning. Glenna and Leander enjoyed traveling all over the United States together during their retirement. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI.
She is survived by her children: Paul Ockert of Ionia, MI, Leo Ockert of Alma, MI, John and Michele Ockert of St. Louis, MI; grandchildren: Amanda and Jared Warner of St. Louis, MI, Ryan and Cassie Ockert of Alma, MI, Nolan Ockert and Alura Nash of St. Louis, MI, Tammy, Paul Jr., Jeff; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Maurine Ockert of Allegan, M;, many nieces and nephews; and special friend Vivian Hey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leander, daughter Betty, her daughter-in-law Shirley Ockert, special sister Clara Peterson and brother-in-law Bernard Ockert.
