Glenna Pauline (Chapman) Ward, 88, of St. Louis passed away at McKellar's Assisted Living in St. Louis on October 22, 2008. Glenna was born March 6, 1920, at home in Bethany Twp., the daughter of Orace & Nellie (Shephard) Chapman, one of nine siblings. She graduated from Grand Ledge High School. Glenna met and married Leon (Teeter) in 1939, and the enjoyed 54 years of marriage.
Glenna worked sixteen years for the City of St. Louis as a billing clerk, retiring in 1971. She was an excellent cook and loved nothing more than having family and friends in to share good food and conversation with them. If you stopped by, it was a "must" to sit down and share a meal, lunch, or dessert at the large round table that was visible and welcoming from the front and back doors. Then afterwards, playing a few rousing games of cards, it that was your suit. Her macaroni & cheese, baked beans, cherry pies, and cinnamon rolls will be missed at family reunions. Glenna enjoyed playing cards, dominos, working on picture puzzles, watching Lawrence Welk and Wheel of Fortune with her friends at McKellar's. She had a quick wit and good sense of humor that was always a part of Glenna, and the fact that she did enjoy a good joke was part of her personality.
The family would like thank Ron and Pearl McKellar and staff in providing a wonderful, loving and caring home for the last five years of her life.
Glenna is survived by her daughter, Joan (Jo) Ward, St. Louis, and son, Terry (Mary Ellen) Ward, Potterville; two Granddaughters, Tammy Ward, Hastings, and Tracy (Tom) Becktel, Howell; three Great Grandchildren, Alissa Lewis, Lansing, Cody Lewis, Potterville, and Kelsie Becktel, Howell; two sisters, Betty and Neoma, one brother, Orace (Junior), and one sister-in-law, Leona, plus many nieces and nephews.
