Gregory Allen Wolfinger

     Gregory Allen Wolfinger, age 69, of Charlotte, MI, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, after a four year courageous battle with cancer.

    Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 9, 2022, with Rev. Fr. Anthony Brooks presiding.  Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI.  Visitation will be held on Friday, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.

     Gregory was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 12, 1953, the son of Bernard and Vera (Matz) Wolfinger.  He married Susan L. Geller on August 21, 1989, in Houghton Lake, Michigan.  She passed away on January 30, 2011.

    Greg was an avid fisherman until he retired from General Motors.  After retirement Greg enjoyed overnight trips to many casinos near and far.  He dabbled in coin collecting, model trains, and playing bingo.  Greg enjoyed spending time with his dog Barney. Greg will be remembered for being an amazing and loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.

   He is survived by his daughter Amy Castillo; son Jeffrey Fineout; special son William Banks; grandchildren: LeeVon Castillo and Chaz Castillo; and two great-grandchildren: Lexi and baby Chue. He is also survived by his siblings: Gary Wolfinger, Anita and Vic Hector, Lisa Wolfinger and Jeff Alford, Larry Wolfinger; sister-in-law Pat and Chuck LaPeer and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Susan and parents.
