Gwendolyn Mae Hayes "Firecracker" age 81 of Durand, Michigan died Monday, August 13, 2007 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility Corunna, Michigan.

A Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Gwendolyn was born in Henderson, Michigan on September 13, 1925 the daughter of William Henry Leonard and Clara ( Burke ) Goulding. She resided most of her life in Durand, Michigan. Gwendolyn married Edgar Hayes on August 5, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away on November 11, 1998. She enjoyed going to the Durand VFW to play Bingo. Her family and grandchildren where very important to her. Gwendolyn was a people person and was "Grandma" to everyone. She loved to tell jokes. Gwendolyn was a member of Durand Nazarene Church, Durand, MI and Shiawassee Dog and Gun Club.

She is survived by her children Kathleen Ramsey of Traverse City, MI, Patricia & David Newport of Owosso, MI, Nancy Granger of Lennon, MI, Barbara Johnson of Durand, MI, Bonnie Hayes of Lawrenceville, GA, Edgar Hayes Jr. of Burton, MI, Sandra Rosser of Durand, MI, 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of other relatives, and special family friend Catherine Brown and her 3 children. She is predeceased by her parents, and her husband Edgar Hayes Sr.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
