Harold Lee McJilton, 91, of St. Louis, MI passed away April 19, 2015 at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Keith Wise of the St. Louis Church of Christ officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Harold was born on October 9, 1923, in St. Louis, Michigan, the only son of Hazel (Woodmansee) and Frank McJilton. He lived all his life on a farm east of St. Louis. On December 17, 1944, he married Margaret Lucille Franks. They were married 69 years, when Margaret preceded him in death in 2014.

Harold graduated from St. Louis High School in 1941; he then attended MSU for a short time studying agriculture. He was a farmer most of his life, tending crops and a small herd of Holstein cows. After the cows were sold he spent a number of years as a licensed plumber and electrician working for Powell Service. He was one of a group of eight men who went fishing yearly near St. Joseph's Island, Ontario; northern pike was always his favorite fish. In his retirement, Harold enjoyed spending winters in Florida in the RV and later a mobile home in Dade City. Later in life he traveled the neighborhood roads on his John Deere Gator. While Margaret was in Schnepps he spent at least three hours a day visiting and having his evening meal with her. He was a life-long member of the St. Louis Church of Christ.

He had three children; Joyce (and John) Dwyer of Maynard, MA, Shirley (and Larry) Seamans of South Haven, MI; and Keith (and Christine) McJilton of St. Louis, MI. He also had four granddaughters; Diana (Kent) Morehouse, Jackie (Kris) Robinson, Sara Seamans, and Katie (Paul) Zurek, and five great-grandchildren. Harold is survived by 2 cousins; Leona (Bailor) Quidort of St. Louis, MI, and Majorie Streb of Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Hazel McJilton and his wife Margaret.
