Harriet Hier

Harriet Rose Hier, age 74, of Ovid, Michigan died Saturday, July 20th, 2013 at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Bill Dye will officiate. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery Ovid, Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Harriet was born in St. Johns, Michigan on October 5, 1938, the daughter of Oral and Irene Simpson. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, with the class of 1956. She resided most of her life in St. Johns and Ovid, Michigan.

On May 4, 1957 she married Donald Hier in Ovid, Michigan. Harriet was an aid for RESA Schools in St. Johns for many years. She enjoyed the children that she took care of at school. She was an avid collector of M&Ms memorabilia.

She is survived by and her husband, Donald Hier of Ovid, MI; 3 sons, Dale and Judy Hier of Elsie, MI; Jeff Hier and Peggy Fast of Ovid, MI; Donald and Sheila Hier of Ashley, MI; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Genevieve Marten of Fowler, MI.

She was predeceased by her parents, 1 brother, Leroy, 2 sisters, Betty, Shirley and a special friend, Lindsey Harden.
