Harry Stoner

Harry Junior Stoner age 93 of Alma, MI passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Carl Cecil officiating.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 3-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Harry was born in Ithaca, MI on June 5, 1924, the son of Harry and Bertha (Peters) Stoner.  On December 12, 1943 Harry married Natalee Gager at the First Church of God parsonage in Alma, MI.  They were blessed to have celebrated 74 years of marriage this past December. In 1953 they purchased the farm on Ely Hwy where they raised their family.   Harry worked for the Parks and Cemetery Department for the City of Alma.  He retired in 1989.

Harry was a kid at heart and loved playing with his grandkids.  He was able to repair anything for friends and family.  Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating on Crystal Lake.  After retirement he really enjoyed RC airplanes and helicopters.  Until his health failed, he was a member of the Ithaca Church of God.  Harry loved his faithful canine companion Cody.  He was able to train Cody to do many unusual tricks.

Harry is survived by his wife Natalee of Alma and 4 children: William (Marilyn) Stoner of Alma; Lawrence (Phyllis) Stoner of Alma; Joan (Galen) Gable of Clarksdale, MS; and Sherry (Nathan) Wilson of Perrinton; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Isabel (Allen) Schmidt of Rich Hill, MO; and Betty (Verle) Wesenberg of Ithaca.  Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 siblings: Lester Stoner, Lorene Stoner, Ben Stoner, and Pauline Thompson.
