Harvey Howard

Harvey Eugene Howard age 90 of Mason, MI formerly of Owosso, MI died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Bob Carpenter will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 from 10-11 A.M. until the time of the service.

Harvey was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan on June 24, 1918, the son of George and Martha (Rogers) Howard. He resided most of his life in the Owosso area, and he attended Owosso High School. Harvey married Opal Eliza Sparks on September 18, 1937 at the Owosso Free Methodist Parsonage. Harvey served his country in the Marine Corp at Iwo Jima during WW II. He was a member of the Owosso American Legion Post #57. Harvey worked as a Lab Supervisor at Mid West Abrasive before retiring in 1979. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and hunting. Harvey also enjoyed playing softball in the Owosso League as a pitcher.

He is survived by his wife Opal Howard of Mason, MI, 2 daughters; Mary Ann Vincent of Owosso, MI, Beverly Jean Vogan of Mason, MI, daughter-in-law Judy Arntson-Howard of Owosso, MI, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 4 sisters; Maxine Rappuhn, Celia Eldridge, Louise Yoder, Georgetta Dennis, several nieces and nephews, and special friends; Leotta Adams, and Bill Svatik. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 son Michael Howard, 2 brothers; Earl & Lyle, and 1 sister Pauline Howell.

Memorials may be made to the family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, Michigan.
