Hazel Aldrich

Hazel Marie Aldrich, age 97, of Ithaca, Michigan died Friday, June 24th, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 27, 2011 11:30 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel. Ithaca, Michigan, Rev. James Conn will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 6, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery.

Hazel was born in Newark Township, Michigan on June 13, 1914, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Owens) Goodspeed. On November 26, 1930 she married Howard Mills, he preceded her in death on October 5, 1952. In 1957 she married Dr. A.L. Aldrich and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1984.

Hazel was a homemaker and was a lifelong resident of Ithaca. She loved to read, walk, attend dances, and bowling. Hazel had worked at Redman's and Kroger for several years, and she attended Ithaca Church of God in Ithaca.

She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Nicewander of Pompeii, MI; 2 grandchildren, Denise and Dennis Womack of Arizona, Alan and Courtney Nicewander of Ithaca, 7 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, 2 husbands, stepdaughter, Lorraine Peters, 3 brothers Howard Goodspeed, Gene Goodspeed, and Charlie Goodspeed; and 2 sisters Freda Bertran and Florence McNaughton.
