Hazel Alice Beardslee of Ovid, MI died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the age of 95. Born November 3, 1918 to Herman and Agot (Larvick) Ealy, Hazel graduated from Flint Central High School, was a licensed beautician, and the cafeteria director at Westwood Heights Schools in Flint and Ovid-Elsie Public Schools. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Hazel loved cooking and making things for her family. She was multi-talented; enjoying to cook, paint, sew, knit, and to work with leather. Hazel was hard working and shared her talents with the United Methodist Women, the Flint Leather Guild, Bible school teacher and 4-H leader for over 25 years. She was a member of the Middlebury United Methodist Church in Ovid. In 1939 Hazel married Earl Beardslee and he preceded her in death in 2011.
Surviving are her children Shirley (Ken) Hodgson of Flint, Susan (Charles) Wagner of Dayton, OH, and Richard (Sheree) Beardslee of Vicksburg, MI; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Earl, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Elvera Suber, Leonard Ealy, and Jean Perry.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid with Pastor Don Wentz officiating. Burial at 3:00 pm at Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Middlebury United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8100 W Hibbard Rd., Ovid, MI 48866.
