Hazel Clagg

Hazel Mae Clagg, age 86, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, with Rev Mary Anne Evans-Justin officiating.  Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Hazel was born in Carson City, Michigan on July 7, 1935, the daughter of Kenneth and Edith (Fillmore) Montague.  She graduated from Carson City High School with the class of 1953. Hazel married Jerold J. Clagg on June 26, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Carson City.

Hazel was an avid golfer and bridge player. She loved gardening and cooking.  Hazel worked alongside her husband Jerry as a bookkeeper at their family business.  She volunteered at the Ithaca Food Pantry for many years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ithaca, MI.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Clagg of Ithaca, MI; daughters: Kimberly Bowen of Ithaca, MI; Kathy (Daniel) Land of Lansing, MI; and Kelly Clagg of Aurora, IL; grandchildren: David (Breanna) Land of North Franklin, CT; and Hannah Land of Lansing, MI; Matthew (Samantha) Land of Lansing, MI; great-grandson Nolan Lechuga of Lansing, MI; one brother Garry (Linda) Montague of Eaton Rapids, MI; sister Donna (Mike) Moore of Greenville, MI; and brother Terry Montague of Edmore, MI.  She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Kari Dawn, and one brother Bruce Montague.
