Hazel Evelyn Most, age 84, of Farwell, Michigan passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 with her family by her side at Eaton Community Palliative Care, Charlotte, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis MI on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Paul Thomas officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Hazel was born in Bethany Township, Michigan on December 28, 1929, the daughter of Henry and Myrtle (Holford) Schlemmer. She was raised in Breckenridge and moved to Farwell about 25 years ago. Hazel had worked for Oldsmobile for 25 years and retired in 1975. She was co-owner of the Country Store in New Haven Center, Gratiot County, MI. For the past 25 years she sold golf balls and supplies and was called "The Golf Lady". She enjoyed her antiques, and she took care of her lawn very well and enjoyed talking to the golfers that came to her shop. It brought great joy to her when her two youngest great grandchildren, Isabella and Ty William, came to visit her.
She is survived by daughter Susan and Stuart Conklin of Olivet, MI, son John and Marcia Ackels of Gladwin, MI, son Rodney and Sharon Ackels of Ft. Wayne, IN, daughter Sandra and Kirk VanHorn of Mt. Pleasant, MI, grandchildren; Daniel and Wendie Conklin, Tracy and Jon Burroughs, Michael and Jessica Ackels, Jonathan and Sarah Conklin, Erica and Lane Torrey, Nicholas Ackels, Andrea VanHorn, 5 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Mary Durgan, of Lutz, FL, and Genevieve Edgar, of Breckenridge, MI. She was predecesed by her parents, grandson Clayton, and brother George Schlemmer.
