Hazel Bell Munger, age 95, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Hazel was born in Ithaca, MI on January 19, 1925, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Bigelow) Groves. She graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1974. Hazel married Rolland Keith Munger on January 7, 1943 in St. Johns.
Hazel worked for Union Telephone Company from 1943-1948, Phosphate Company in DeWitt and Saylor Beall Co. for many years. Hazel was a Girl Scout leader for troop 43 and a Cub Scouts leader for troop 71. She enjoyed 10 years of modern western square dance with the St. Johns Hoe Downers. Hazel loved traveling by motorcycle and bus tours with her husband Keith. She liked baking pies and cookies for family and friends.
She was a member of the Eureka Christian Church and Women's Fellowship. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and dearly loved her husband, children and grandchildren, they were her life!
She is survived by daughters: Lynda and Rick Knight of St. Johns, Sandra and Doug Thorne of Lansing, son Michael and Brenda Munger of St. Johns, 7 grandchildren: Erica and Jay Bancroft, Sean (Shaun Rosenbeck) Knight, Gina Munger, Jaime Hall, Lindsay and Jeff Franklin, Elissa and Joel Ryan, and Shawna Johnson; great grandchildren: Shawna and Lauren Bancroft, Amaya Hall, Matthew Hall, Sophia Harper, Maxwell and Lillian Johnson, and Ellouise and Leah Ryan; one great great grandson Carter Flewelling; and 2 great great granddaughters: Aaliyah and Alaina VanWagoner. She is also survived by brother in law Reed Munger of Ohio, sisters in law: Marlene Groves of St. Johns and Gloria Groves of Owosso, and many close friends and caring neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
