Helen Elizabeth Becker, age 92, of Wheeler, MI, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 6, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John XXIII Parish of Hemlock, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hemlock, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, with Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J. presiding. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the church.
Helen was born in Hemlock, Michigan on October 10, 1931, the daughter of Michael Joseph and Beatrice Isabelle (Hall) Masar. She and Lewis graduated from Ithaca High School with their daughter Kimberly in 1980. On October 8, 1953, Helen married Lewis Albert Becker, Sr. in Owosso, MI. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 4, 2021.
At age 15, Helen began working on Hess' Duck Farm in Hemlock where she met Lewis. She worked for Redman Motors in Ithaca and later Owosso for 38 years, retiring in 1996. After retirement, she enjoyed tending her flower garden and raising peacocks.
Helen enjoyed traveling in the UP, especially family time on Drummond Island. She liked to fish and watch the wildlife in her backyard. She was a talented person and enjoyed crafting. Most importantly, Helen enjoyed time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and her furry kitty-kats, Bugs and Charli.
She is survived by her children: Lewis (Nancy) Becker, Jr., Michael (Kathy) Becker, Jeffery Becker, Linda (Jeffrey) Williams, Kimberly Crandell, and Lisa (Kirk) Bott; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and siblings: Theresa Berkobein, Theodore Masar, Duane "Dewey" Masar, and Rosemary (Jim) Costello; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewis, son-in-law Randolph Weigold, brother Frank (Jo) Masar, sister Ruth Ann (Ed) Hare, sister Wilma (John) Jerry, sister-in-law Shirley Masar.
